Robert (Homer) Christensen Bio: As soon as I graduated, I began using the nickname, Homer. (Way before the Simpson's.... had I only known!) Went to USAF Academy, but after 2 years decided I didn't want to fly or kill, so I took a year off and then finished up at UCSB with a degree in English. Backpacked through Europe with my college roommate for 4 months, and then went to Hawaii for a year, San Diego for a year, and finally found my love in Washington state. Was a flight attendant for a while with PanAm before they went bankrupt, and then got a job and was almost fired on my honeymoon -- and was fired on my first anniversary. Ah, life! Being fired turned out to be the best thing for me! I was hired back as a consultant with the company who fired me at a MUCH higher salary. And then worked as a self-employed technical writer and instructional designer for 14 years with Microsoft, Adobe, and some other companies. Was fun -- and I was able to afford a nice house with a couple of acres on Bainbridge complete with dogs, donkeys, geese, goats, and loads of chickens -- but was burning with some other questions; those pesky questions as to the meaning of life. Started writing more seriously -- mostly poems, but also scripts and a novel. Turned down Dreamworks on one of my scripts -- I'm an idjit! It's a long story -- but had a great time writing it. Moved to Santa Fe -- and started a web design and programming company that specializes in artists and galleries. Got a divorce and was sad for a few years, and moved closer to my family to help my folks and hang with my niece and my brother. (Everyone ended up in Folsom for some reason) Being divorced turned out to be the best thing for me! I still have my web business, plus I opened a gallery in old town Folsom (http://arslongagallery.com), met a wonderful Julie who surprises me daily, and have been studying/practicing meditation and Komyo Reiki. Looking forward to more writing and teaching.
