I'm sorry that I won't be able to attend the 30th reunion. Here's a bit more information on my life and times after Marina. After Marina I went off to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in June 1982. I took six years because during that period I worked six quarters full time in a Co-op program, six months at IBM in San Jose, and two six month periods at NASA, Moffet Field. After graduation I started my journeys around the country (not the world!) in the Navy. I entered into an Officer Training program for the Submarine Force. During my time in the Navy, I lived, in order: Newport, RI; Orlando, FL, Saratoga Springs, NY; New London, CT; Niantic, CT; Newport News, VA; Groton, CT, and finally, Silverdale, WA. I served on two submarines, the USS Nathanel Greene (SSBN 636) which I took into the shipyard for decommissioning, and the USS Florida (SSBN 728). The latter I was the ship's Navigator (third ranking officer behind the Captain and the Executive Officer). I left the Navy in Jan 1994. While I was in Silverdale, I was invited to a party for his wife's co-workers at my younger brother's (Don's) house, north of Seattle, WA, this is where I met my wife, Joan. She is a research biologist then at the University of Washington. Originally from New Hampshire, that's where we travelled to be married Oct 1994. In March 1996 we had our child, Rachel, who was born on my 38th birthday (quite a long day for all involved). Since I was gainfully unemployed, we moved to be closer to Joan's work, leaving the west side of Puget Sound to end up north of Seattle. I started night classes at the University of Washington Extension, and earned my Certificate in Programming. In September of 1997 I rejoined the ranks of the employed as a computer programmer at Allied Signal outside of Seattle. By 2000, Allied Signal merged with, bought, was bought by, (take your pick) Honeywell and my group was being transferred to Phoenix, AZ, so instead we packed up and moved to the Boston area to be near Joan's family. I head a small programming group in a small company north of Boston that produces voicemail and billing systems for small telephone operators around the world. For those of you who might wonder about the rest of my family: In 1978, my parents moved to Danville where they live to this day. Ann lives in Davis, CA with her husband and three children; Joan lives in Oakland, CA; Susan is a teacher in Carson City, NV with a daughter; David is in Pleasant Hill, CA with his wife and two children; James just moved to somewhere in Oregon from Anchorage, AK with his wife; and Donald is in Mill Creek, WA with wife and two children. John
