I cant believe it has been 30 years since graduating high school! After high school I attended Chabot College for a short period. At 19 was introduced to•Kenneth Davis by a wonderful high school friend, Saundra Escott. Kenneth and I married in 1978. Kenneth finished his last 8 months in the U.S. Navy oversees while I stayed behind to work for The Hartford Insurance Company in San Francisco. When he returned, we•moved to San Lorenzo. In 1979 we were truly blessed with a daughter, Sueann. I•went to work for Western Electric for a couple of years and then Peterbuilt Motors in Fremont, until 1984. We moved several times during that time•trying to find the right place to raise a family. In 1983 we ended up buying our first house in Oakley, CA. I thought I was going to die from heat stroke! We had no air conditioning and the temperatures in the summers were usually in the upper 90's and sometimes reaching 110's. Coming from San Leandro, always cool, I couldn't imagine that people actually survived in this hot weather. We stuck it out and each summer became more tolerable, especially after•we installed our first central air conditioning unit. Commuting to Fremont was just too much so I opened a small daycare business in my home which• allowed me to stay home with Sueann. The daycare business flourished into a large•successful business. •• In 1985, the stork visited again and we were blessed once again, with a son, Austin. In late 1985, my brother Gary passed on, his•short but fulfilled life inspired me to go back to school and finish what I started•way back in 1976.• While raising the two children and with the unconditional support from my•husband Kenneth and my mother, I finally graduated Los Medanos College in 1995 with my Associate Degree in Registered Nursing. I went•to work for Tracy Community Hospital and the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, and then finally settled at John Muir Health System in 1997. Once again, another move,•our house•was running out of room, we moved one town over, to Antioch, CA. Sueann completed her degree in Graphic Design and Austin graduated from high school. My mother passed on in 2003, and her inspiration guided me, back once again to pursue higher education. I returned to school and received my Bachelors Degree in Nursing. At 27 years old Sueann has been living in•Sacramento to pursue her career, and at 21 years old, Austin moved to Chico to pursue school and the single life. And as for Kenneth and I, we are still married after 28 years! I guess after the kids moved out, I needed something to do, so, again, went back to school to•pursue my•Master's Degree in Nursing and have just about•one year left to go.•I am currently working as a Nurse manager•at John Muir Health Systems in Concord, CA.• • I am looking foward to seeing all of you at the reunion!
